PTE Academic Tests Officially Approved for UK Immigration

Pearson has just scored a massive win in the UK. The company announced on December 16th that the UK Home Office granted Pearson commercial agreements to provide Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) to people applying to work or live in the country. This means that the Pearson Test of English or PTE Academic and Home, a new speaking and listening test, are now accepted for family visas, settlement and citizenship applications.

PTE also accepted in Australia, New Zealand and prestigious US institutions

The UK joins Australia and New Zealand in adopting the PTE as an official test for immigrants. In fact, 100% of Australian, New Zealand, and Irish universities already accept it. In addition, 98% of universities in the UK and more than 2,000 programmes in the USA have also joined in recognizing the PTE. Harvard Business School, INSEAD and Yale University all honor the PTE, according to the official press release of Pearson. The agreement is guaranteed for a minimum of three years.

The test is fully digital. And Pearson VUE, the company’s computer-based testing wing, delivers the examination. Pearson utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide accurate scoring and added security. They use artificial intelligence for scoring, biometric data for security and voice recognition for the speaking sections of the test.

Those interested in taking the PTE exam can enjoy many convenient benefits. For instance, test takers can book online up to 24 hours in advance. They receive a confirmation email afterward. There are also year-round testing slots available and results are released quickly. In fact, the average of 2019 is currently running at just 1.2 days delivery time.

Here is a general breakdown of the tests:

• The PTE Academic (UKVI) is a four-skills language test and work and some study visas accept it. The tested skills are speaking, listening, reading and writing.
• The PTE Home is a two-skills language test and family and settlement/citizenship applications accept it. The tested skills are speaking and listening.
